Being a lifelong, die-hard sports fan, "True Blue" was an absolute joy to shoot. The combination of shooting at Yankee Stadium (I've been a Yankees fan since childhood) and photographing favorite athletes and celebrities could not be beat. Plus, all the celebrities clearly enjoyed being part of "True Blue" as they were all smiles and good vibes throughout the night, often interacting with fans. A great night for a great cause!

As a photographer, this was my second time participating/documenting a protest, the first being last November after a grand jury chose not to indict Darren Wilson for the murder of Michael Brown. As a Black female photographer, both experiences were incredibly empowering and rewarding. Looking forward to covering more protests and rallies in the future....

This is my second time shooting Peter "Kid Chocolate" Quillin, a boxer whom I've been impressed with in the past. I was surprised he didn't win this match as he really dominated the early rounds, but was never able to put his opponent Andy Lee away. Lee was very resilient, and showed his skills in the later rounds. The fight was declared a draw, much to the dismay of the fans at Barclays Center. A different perspective, shot through Bow Bridge in Central Park...

The West team was coached by Spike Lee, John McEnroe and sportscaster Mike Golic. The team included actors Nick Cannon, Anthony Anderson, Ansel Elgort and Jesse Williams; comedian Sarah Silverman and athletes Mo'ne Davis, Skylar Diggins and Chris Mullin. Meanwhile the East was coached by New York Knick Carmelo Anthony and sportscaster Mike Greenberg. Their team included comedian Kevin Hart, actors Chadwick Boseman & Michael Rapaport; rapper/actor Common and athletes Shoni Schimmel, Allan Houston and Tina Charles. The West defeated the East 57-51, with Hart winning his 4th MVP in a row.

A remnant and reminder of the Kings Theatre's past

I truly enjoyed the privilege of photographing the reborn, European-flavored theater in all its glory...from the grandiose lighted ceiling, to the intricate details carved into the pillars, to the small, deliberate reminders of the theater's past. Like Barclays Center, the Kings Theater is a gorgeous feather in Brooklyn's already marvelous cap.

The NYC subway is as public as you can get. But this lady somehow managed to be invisible...in plain sight.

Captured this while strolling along the maligned Williamsburg Bridge. The bridge is riddled with graffiti and lacks the fame and cache of its neighbors... the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges. But it leads to my favorite neighborhood, so it will ALWAYS have a special place in heart.

This is why I love New York...VIBRANCY.

Only my best friend (a fellow photog) and I could turn a celebratory dinner in Hells Kitchen into a mini photo shoot. Once we saw how all the shades of brown blended beautifully, we whipped out our cameras and started shooting! Fun moments.

Serene moment captured in Cancun, Mexico recently. As the sun sets on 2014, I wish all of you a Happy New Year! Wishing good health, happiness, love and blessings for us all....

And then everything drastically changed: a disastrous 2nd half of the season and they lost two of their stars, Paul George and Lance Stephenson, during the off-season. 

When I photographed them recently at Barclays...it was clear they were a totally different team. They now have a losing record and are unlikely to make the playoffs. That well-oiled machine I watched with awe a year ago was nowhere to be seen. Yet they still had the muster to defeat the Brooklyn Nets handily that night, 110-85. But I wonder how often current Pacers Roy Hibbert, David West, George Hill, C.J. Watson and Luis Scola...and their fans...reminisce about a year ago and wonder what could have been.

Photographing the Brooklyn Nets this season, I’ve seen a major change…when shooting them earlier this season when they losing practically every game, the mood was decidedly solemn. Now that they’ve turned things around and won their last 9 of 10 games, that solemnity has lifted…the Nets are smiling, joking…and much more at ease.

The 1990’s returned to Brooklyn’s Barclays Center in the form of “The Package Tour”: New Kids on the Block, 98 Degrees and Boyz II Men. All three groups looked and sounded great. Much of the adoring audience appeared to be 30-something women, giddily enjoying a “girls night out”. I wondered how many are moms with daughters screaming for today’s teen idols… Justin Bieber and One Direction.
