The Real Cabo San Lucas...Mexico has long been my "go-to" for a tropical getaway, but this was my first visit to Cabo San Lucas. And while I did enjoy the beach, marina, restaurants, malls & sun-drenched downtime, I found myself more & more drawn to the locals and their unassuming neighborhoods, just blocks from all the advertised & crowded tourist attractions. So instead of capturing "The Arch" and the usual sunrise, sunsets, seashells & sandcastles, I felt compelled to focus my lens on the REAL Cabo San Lucas. And as you'll see, it provides quite a contrast from the Cabo presented on brochures, posters, TV docs & travel sites.
New York Comic Con 2016!This was my 6th straight year attending New York Comic Con...and the most fun. I think this time I took in more of the atmosphere: tons of grown adults (and kids) dedicated to...and expressing...what they love. Whether it's a superhero(ine), a cult tv classic, anime, a video game character, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, I mean, the geek list is endless. From the most elaborate cosplay to simply wearing a Wonder Woman tee shirt, we all shed our ever-adulting selves and became kids again. Everything was awesome....everyone was happy. (And we all get to do it again on Halloween!)
"The Walking Dead" Season 6 Premiere at Madison Square GardenThe wildly popular TV show "The Walking Dead" had its Season 6 premiere at Madison Square Garden and what a night it was. This premiere was strictly for the die-hard fans....17,000 strong...who packed The Garden wearing t-shirts and costumes repping the show and favorite characters. The airing of the premiere episode (on 3 giant screens) was followed by a fantastic panel discussion of 18 cast members! Yours truly, a "TWD" fan since Day 1, had the added thrill of photographing the actors on the red carpet. Kudos to the AMC network and Madison Square Garden for a terrific job all around...a night the fans will never forget.
WNBA Playoffs: New York Liberty vs. Indiana Fever Game 3The New York Liberty's best season ever came to a crashing halt, at the hands of the Indiana Fever and their superstar, Tamika Catchings. The Liberty players, in front of their high-energy fans, played a surprisingly tentative game, while the surging Fever played one of their best games of the season. Indiana now goes on to the WNBA Finals vs the Minnesota Lynx, while the Liberty have to wait until next year.
WNBA Playoffs: New York Liberty vs. Washington Mystics Game 2Captured some intense...and fun...moments as the WNBA's New York Liberty defeated the Washington Mystics in Game 3 of their playoff series. The league's best team now moves on to face the Indiana Fever in the Eastern Conference Finals.
WNBA Playoffs: New York Liberty vs. Washington Mystics Game 1It was an honor and incredibly exciting to shoot Game 1 of the playoff series between the New York LIberty and the Washington Mystics. Despite hard play and chances to win it in double overtime, the #1 seeded Liberty fell to the Mystics 86-83.
"Reach" (New York Liberty vs Chicago Sky)
Players from the WNBA's Chicago Sky and New York Liberty vie for the ball.
WNBA: Rematch of New York Liberty vs. Chicago SkyI'm a die-hard New York Liberty fan, but I really wanted to shoot this game to capture Elena Delle Donne, star forward for the Chicago Sky. Ever since she entered the WNBA, the 2013 Rookie of the Year has been one of the WNBA's top players. Her combination of beauty and athleticism make her a dream for sports photographers. And Ms. Delle Donne did not disappoint. Her 19 points helped elevate the Sky to a 82-60 win.
WNBA: New York Liberty vs Chicago SkyIn what could be a preview of the WNBA playoffs, the 1st place New York Liberty hosted the Chicago Sky at Madison Square Garden. Unfortunately, the much-anticipated matchup was dampened when Elena Delle Donne, the Sky's star player and MVP candidate, injured her ankle in a previous game and was unable to play against the Liberty. The Liberty, led by Epiphanny Prince's 22 points, stormed past Chicago 84-63. But for me, the true highlight of the evening was meeting WNBA President Laurel Richie. As a die-hard WNBA fan since Day 1, it was a thrill to express how much I love this sport and appreciate all the work she's doing. Ms. Richie was very gracious and warm and even posed for a photo with me!
